Hello everybody,
As mentioned before DSA loves helping their members gain knowledge and we want you to become successful! We think this conference would be a great opportunity for our members, and others, to expand their horizons and venture into different paths and maybe find that thing they are passionate about. This will be a great way to connect with organizations outside our school and to network as well. MORE INFORMATION AND A LINK TO REGISTRATION, here. Hello everybody,
We want to invite all of you to our annual Afro-Latino event. This year it will take place February 17th, which is a Tuesday. We are going to have a panel discussion and a performance to showcase core issues of identity, culture, tradition and community. We believe that acknowledging our roots and the influences that have had major impact on who we are today is necessary, and the process of finding out more about where we come from is empowering. So, JOIN US FEB. 17TH IN THE HOFFMAN ATRIUM, FROM 6.30PM-9PM. We want to thank BSU, CSA, TEP and SAIS for collaborating with us to bring all of you this majestic event. Thanks to Najua Ward for the beautiful design and work on our flier. For more information, click here. Hello everybody, We are so proud of how things have been going so far this semester. We wanted to do something to get into the holiday spirit and to end this semester on a cozy and happy note so we had a secret santa. We asked out members if they would like to be part of the exchange of gifts and they were so nice to be up for it! Below are some pictures of our members giving and receiving gifts: HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!! <3
Hello everybody, As you may or may not know, DSA works very closely with DSI and we are proud of our professional relationship. We have learned so much from the people that work at DSI, whether it is when they give us advice on how to better ourselves as a club and as people to looking out for us to help us succeed. We are very thankful to DSI for everything they do and what they bring to out campus. Below are some pictures of this year's gala: These pictures are a great insight to our members and their personalities, we get down to business without compromising our sense of self. Don't they all look fabulous?! Above is the invitation that was sent out to invitees to celebrate the 20th anniversary of DSI being approved by CUNY.
Hello everybody,
Winter Social is an annual event put together by the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) at out college. Collaborating with most of the student clubs at CCNY, this event is always a success. This year we had chocolate fountains, both milk chocolate and white chocolate, and yes, they were as amazing as they sound! Thank you to the USG team for all their hard work. Hello everybody, Yes, we are the Dominican Students Association and we want to bring exposure of our culture to the world but we are also humans and we are very welcoming of the very diverse student community at our school. In this event we collaborated with other different clubs from our campus, these are the following: South Asian Talent Club CCNY Caribbean Students Association Black Student Union CCNY Salsa Mambo Team S.A.M.E. TV CCNY Student Association for International Studies City Chahat We had performances by some of the clubs as well as different types of food, from different parts of the world. Hello everybody,
Game night is an annual event that we, DSA, host in collaboration with the Kappa Sigma Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity Inc. As you may or may not know, midterms are a very stressful time period for the college student, so we like to give our members a day to relax and regain energy to study so that they can do well in their respective tests. Thank you to Devin Rajaram, member of TKE, for providing the design of the flier. Hello everybody, This event was a fundraiser through which, as the flier states, we brought a little bit of the Dominican Republic to the City College of New York (CCNY). For this event we asked our members to bring in a typical dish from our homeland. You are probably thinking mangu, mashed plantains, well let me tell you that unfortunately we did not have any mangu this time. Sad face, I KNOW! We have the most AMAZING members!
Thanks everyone for their hard work and everyone that showed support. Yay DSA! Hello everybody, As a student club we like to incorporate all aspects of life. We party but we are also about business and expanding our member's intellect. Today we were visited by a native from our land! Eddy Noboa is a local historian from the Dominican Republic. He is not a professional but what is a better drive than passion? Eddy takes time out of his life to dedicate to research the history of our beloved country. We thank the Dominican Studies Institute (DSI), from City College, for being the facilitators of this discussion. Thank you to the Assistant Director Anthony Stevens-Acevedo for being our translator, given that Mr. Noboa does not speak English. Also, we want to thank Nelson Santana and Jhensen Ortiz for all their help. This is our member Kenneth, accompanied by our treasurer Priscila and our secretary Isvanely. He won Mr. Noboa's book in a raffle.
